Lin Gu, Professor at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been engaged in the field of electron microscopy for nearly 20 years. In 2002, he graduated from Tsinghua University and obtained bachelor's degree mentored by Academician Prof. Jing Zhu. In 2005, he received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University supervised by Prof. David J. Smith. He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Metals Research in Stuttgart Germany, and the Tohoku University in Japan. In recent years, Prof. Gu focuses on the structure and electronic structure of functional materials at Picometer scale. So far, he has published more than 700 papers (including 15 papers on Science/Nature, and more than 80 papers on Science/Nature titled journals), with citations of more than 50,000 times and H index >120. He has been awarded the IMC16/IFSM Young Scientists Award (2006); Young Investigator Award from the International Meeting On Lithium Batteries (2012); “Lu Jia-Xi” Young Talents Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2013); Outstanding Science and Technology Achievements Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2013); Young Scientist Award from Chinese Crystallographic Society (2018). He was selected as highly cited researcher by Clarivate Analytics in both fields of Materials Science (2018-2021) and Chemistry (2019-2021).
Lin Gu serves as editorial board member for "J. Phys. Condens. Matter" from IOP;"Annalen der Physik" and "Nano Select" from Wiley;"Science Bulletin" from Elsevier and "Rare Metals" from Springer Nature.
